Pay any storage unit bills and clean out storage unit
In advance of the sale or distribution of personal property, you should address any storage units the deceased might have used to get an accurate account of all personal items.
You need to continue to pay for the storage unit, or clean it out and close it. Otherwise, there is a chance all of the property in it could be taken.
First, find the key or gate code to get into the storage unit, or bring the following with you so that the manager can give you access:
Your ID
Letters of Administration or Letters Testamentary
Death certificate
Once you’ve assembled all personal items, you’re ready to address the sale or distribution of personal property.
