Take care of any unpaid medical expenses
See the “figure out what debts I need to pay” page to confirm you need to pay. Usually, medical bills are the first debts that you are obligated to pay from the estate though.
The medical center or nursing home will mail you bills. You can pay them directly via the information on the mailing.
You also may be able to call them and explain the circumstances. They may be willing to delay the payment or provide financial counseling.
