Cancel or transfer cable/internet
Either transfer the account so that you can keep paying bills, or close it down to stop the charges. Also, these companies are known for being difficult. Brace yourself.
First, find the following information:
First and last name of the account holder
Service address
Phone number
Account number
Last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number
Death certificate
Your photo ID

Time Warner/Charter Communications/Spectrum: 1-855-707-7328
DISH Network / Sling TV: 1-888-283-2309
Verizon/FIOS: 1-800-922-0204
Altice/Optimum: 1-866-209-1099
Frontier/Vantage: 1-866-786-6693
Mediacom: 1-855-633-4226
Cox Communications/Contour: Follow these instructions found here.
If you have a box/hardware, the customer service representative will guide you through how to return this.
Note: You will likely have to pay the balance on the account. Some providers do still charge early termination or transfer charges (we don’t like it either!) Additionally, many of these companies are known for difficult customer service and may request different things.
