Get a death certificate in Gordon County, Georgia

You will need a death certificate to do almost every step of closing down a loved one’s estate - from dealing with the vehicle to bank accounts to social media.

  1. We recommend you request 15-20 certified copies of the death certificate.

  2. Usually, your funeral home will take care of getting you certified copies of the death certificate

  3. If your funeral home does not get these for you, you can get them at the Gordon County Probate Court Office. In order to do this:

    • You need to be the immediate family of the person who passed.

    • You will need to bring your photo ID.

    • The fee is $25 for the first death certificate and $5 for each death certificate after that.

    • They will have you fill out a request form

    • You can go to the courthouse without an appointment:
